Longshot Winery's 2016 Wurstweek Schedule

You should stop in and check out Longshot Winery's selection of premium wines, made from grapes grown right here in Texas soil up in Brownfield which is southwest of Lubbock. Their belief is "if you can’t make the best wine possible, then it’s not worth drinking". Longshot has set up a wine tasting room on a newly renovated 18th century location in the heart of New Braunfels just across the street from Wurstfest and The Landmark on the south end of beautiful and historic Landa Park.

Wurstfest Craft Beer Festival - Music

It's almost here, got your tickets yet? They're only selling 500 VIP and 3,000 GA tickets for this one day event on Saturday, March 5 which sounds like a lot, but it sold out last year and will likely sell out even faster this year!

Here's who they've announced is playing so far, I gotta hand it to them, they're putting together one heck of a line up again this year!

Another Wurstfest has come and gone, and sadly this year we were only able to make it there for one night. But if you find yourself in this precarious situation, always make sure that one night is on or before Thursday night. I love many of the bands that play each year such as Terry Cavanagh & The Alpine Express, Squeezebox, Die Bayrische 7 and so many more, but my absolute all time favorite band ever at Wurstfest is Alex Meixner Band! They play opening ceremonies (biting of the sausage) and play each night through Thursday.

Here is a compilation of one of their performances this year!

The Texas Tornados, that is! Ten days of Wurstfest isn't enough, people needed another chance to salute one of the main staples of German cuisine, BEER! For the last 54 years, locals as well as people from all over the globe have enjoyed German heritage including music, food, beer and more! This year a new and hopefully annual festival was added, celebrating a drink that may not have been invented in Germany, but it was certainly embraced, enhanced and celebrated there for a LONG time. They put together a fantastic line up of music for the day, starting with The Groove Hounds, Tom Gillam's Kosmic Messengers, Two Tons of Steel then finally THE TEXAS TORNADOS!

Among the many craft brewers on hand, Pedernales Brewing Company was there with their Robert Earl Keen Honey Pilsner, Lobo Negro Dark Lager, Select Hefeweizen Wheat on tap and Lobo Lito Lager bottles in the tasting area.

I was unable to attend, but I was able to get a few photos from friends.
