Ryan Bingham has performed at Whitewater quite a few times over the years since 2013, we also saw him back in 2016 with Willie Nelson. This show happened 9 days after Merle Haggard died, he was supposed to perform at this show as well.
Here's a show from March of 2014 with Merle Haggard plus Wade Bowen and Randy Roger's infamous "Hold My Beer" tour. This was back when publicist rules were looser and I was in the pit more often, iPhone photo sensors were garbage (comparitively) and I didn't know how to keep a video down to a reasonable length. :-)
Willie Nelson, Robert Earl Keen and The Jakes at Whitewater Amphitheater
Robert Earl Keen concluded his career as a touring musician in September 2022, but like many who have spent most of their adult lives entertaining large crowds, it's an intoxicant that is difficult to resist. After multiple attempts at finding new hobbies, he decided to spend his retirment doing what he loves the most, entertaining large crowds and continuing to write and record music. Among his accomplishments over the past couple of years, he experienced his Grand Ol Opry debut in March, he'll play Red Rocks Amphitheater on May 9 with Turnpike Troubadours, and will return to Gruene Hall on May 17.
Willie Nelson has assembled a perfect band to accompany him while still maintinaing a relatively busy touring schedule for a 91 year old. Up front with Willie is Waylon Payne who has not only had a very successful career as a songwriter and performing musician, but also has had some success in acting including expertly portraying Jerry Lee Lewis in the 2005 film "Walk The Line". He is also joined up front by his surprisingly entertaining youngest son Micah Nelson, and with 2 guitars and 2 voices adding to Willie, the sound is thick with harmony and both hints of Willie as a younger man and sounds that are both classic and new and bring a brand of Willie to yet another generation in a way that gives them an experience of the history of music as well as fresh, new songs that resonated with the crowd. There are people of all ages on hand for this chapter of Willie, including parents introducting their kids to music that was played for them as children by their parents. It's hard to believe that the original outlaws of country music are all but gone, but for now we still have Willie Nelson, and he's still got us.

Miranda Lambert at Whitewater Amphitheater
Miranda Lambert's Highway Vagabond tour made a stop in New Braunfels for two nights in a row at Whitewater Amphitheater. Wade Bowen opened both nights at Whitewater, and will continue on with Miranda for two shows at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, Colorado in the form of he and Randy Rogers' Hold My Beer Tour.It was a great night and I was told despite the fact they've had numerous shows sell out, they were expecting record bodies through the gates for the two shows. Wade Bowen is one of New Braunfels' many talented residents, and his opening for Miranda was not by any stretch a decision made at the last minute. In fact, Wade told a story about how when Miranda was 16 and would frequent Bowen's shows with her mother, she told Wade that when she one day made it big, she would have him open for her. I'm not sure how seriously he took her at the time, but her promise has come to fruition multiple times over. Both Wade Bowen and Miranda Lambert put on fantastic, high energy shows.
Miranda's last stop at Whitewater Amphitheater was in June of 2010 with her Roadside Bars & Pink Guitars Tour which also included Wade Bowen and a guest appearance of another New Braunfels resident Cody Canada. It was later that year in October when Cody and his former band Cross Canadian Ragweed played their final show ever at Joe's on Weed Street in Chicago.

If you've never been to a Randy Rogers Band show at Whitewater then you REALLY need to fix that and snatch up some of the FEW remaining tickets for this Saturday night! My wife and I saw Willie Nelson at Whitewater in 2010 with Ray Wylie Hubbard and Seth Walker opening the show, and at the time that was the best live show I had ever been to. I don't know if it was the spirit of Merle Haggard hanging in the air or something else, but Ryan Bingham opened the show and then he and his band got back up toward the end of Willie's set for a couple of Merle Haggard songs and they closed the show with a gospel set. MAN what a show! Willie always speaks through some lyrics of some songs, but try singing the same stuff for 40 or 50 years just because everybody wants to hear them and I'm sure you'd lose a little of your drive for giving 100% to those songs each time too! He did, however do MUCH less of that this time than he did in 2010, and I would say everything was almost perfect! Whitewater has done a great job rebuilding from the floods last May and October, and as usual they rebuilt bigger and better!

He loved everything about life and he loved that everyone of you gave him a chance with his music. He wasn't just a country singer.. He was the best country singer that ever lived."
Merle Haggard turns 79 today, join me in wishing him a happy birthday and speedy recovery from some recent health crud he's been dealing with that forced him to cancel shows in both March and April so far this year. Sorry that he won't be at Whitewater later this month, but I wish him well and hope to see him on stage again real soon!

Whitewater Amphitheater: Haggard, Bowen and Rogers
Whitewater Amphitheater set the bar high when they kicked of their 2014 live music season on Saturday, March 29th with Merle Haggard plus an opening set from Wade Bowen and Randy Rogers' "Hold My Beer and Watch This" acoustic tour. Wade and Randy took turns performing acoustic versions of their songs with Brady Black joining in on fiddle and Todd Laningham on guitar. If you're not familiar with this annual tour, they drink beer and swap songs and stories.It was an early show with Wade and Randy taking the stage at 7:30, but Whitewater was already starting to fill up despite that. Rock, Paper Scissors is apparently a tradition to see which man will start the show, and Wade won out and kicked things off with "If We Ever Make It Home". From there they played one song after another with an occasional stop for a drink of beer and some humorous conversation about life on the road, etc.
By the time Wade and Randy's set ended the place was packed, and people were of course antsy to see Merle Haggard on stage. After a brief wait while the stage was prepared, The Strangers (Merle's band) took the stage to sing a few songs while waiting for Merle to appear. Finally it was time, and at almost 77 years of age (he was born April, 6, 1937), Merle Haggard doesn't appear to have lost a step. His well-staffed 8 piece band performed every hit Merle Haggard song I could remember, and it truly was an honor to be able to witness such a country music legend performing live.

Dustin Welch will perform at Ray Wylie Hubbard's Grit 'n Groove Festival on April 6, 2013 at Whitewater Amphitheater in New Braunfels, TX. Click here for more details.
Dustin comes from a powerhouse musical family. Father Kevin Welch is one of Texas' most highly respected and decorated songwriters, and his sister Savannah is a member of the all female angelic quartet of sirens The Trishas. Dustin was exposed to many amazing singers, songwriters and instrumentalists as a child. He was also fed an eclectic mix of music on tape and in life and that had influenced him to seek out his own style rather than copy one.
Dustin was focused on music from an early age, he was even learning and playing mandolin as early as 5 years old and learned guitar and banjo along the way. At 15 he was playing at a music festival at a hippie commune in Tennessee called The Farm. While there he had a dream, or he explained it as more of a vision of music. He remembered instrumentations and a very unique musical style that would end up influencing his own composing and songwriting. Years later after writing the song "Sparrows", he realized this song had become the embodiment of the music from his vision.
After spending time in Nashville then later becoming a member of west coast punk rock band Scotch Greens; Dustin relocated to Austin in 2008 and shortly after got a job running sound at Momos. Dustin later picked up a Monday night residency at Momos and began to further develop his own unique sound and style while working on writing more songs. Dustin's first full length album Whisky Priest was released in March of 2009 and was called "one of the most compelling albums to come out of Texas in the past year" by Lone Star Music Magazine.
Dustin frequently co-writes with friends such as Micky Braun, John Fulbright, The Trishas, childhood friends Justin Earl and Carrie Anne Hearst and his father Kevin Welch among many more. Another round of originals ended up being compiled into his latest full-length album Tijuana Bible that was released on February 12 of this year. The first song I heard on radio from this particular album was "Across The Rubicon". This big, 60's hippie anthem style song is one Dustin had written with big vocals and harmonies with The Trishas in mind, but after it didn't make the final cut on their album High Wide and Handsome, Dustin ended up recording it himself and it made it onto Tijuana Bible and the Americana airwaves!
Dustin and his wife Kayla live in a home south of Austin with their dogs and a cat. Kayla used to produce rodeos for a living, and has now redirected those skills as a valuable member of the team at WileyWorld Entertainment as Ray Wylie Hubbard's tour manager. Come to Grit N Groove Fest and hear Dustin's unique style for yourself!

Artist Spotlight: Wheeler Brothers

Nolan, Tyler and Patrick Wheeler grew up just a few miles north of Austin in Round Rock, TX. They did not grow up in a home with musical parents, although their mother did play the cello before the boys were born, and their father would take them for regular trips to 7 Eleven for snacks and Slurpees while silently feeding them a healthy diet of "oldies" tunes on 103.5fm in Austin back in the 80's and 90's which at the time would have been KEYI "Oldies 103". Prior to operating as Oldies 103, the station was partially owned by Lyndon Johnson's family and was known as "Key 103" and played adult contemporary. Austin radio history is interesting, but lets get back to the Wheelers!
In 2010 while Travis and multi-instrumentalist A.J. Molyneaux were still in college, lead guitarist Danny was driving back and forth between his job in Houston and home in Austin, and Tyler and Patrick were still working construction with their father; they all began writing songs together regularly and ended up with enough songs to easily put together an entire album. They ended up forming the band, playing regular gigs in Austin. Nolan plays guitar, keys, glockenspiel, harp and lead vocals, Tyler plays bass and Patrick plays drums. They recorded and released their first album Portraits in 2011. They then hit the road and toured heavily, performing and promoting Portraits as much as they could.
After a year and a half on the road, the guys sat down one day in a hotel room in Wichita, KS and started working on some new songs. This laid the groundwork for what would eventually become the bands second full length album Gold Boots Glitter. Aside from the hotel in Wichita, the rest of the songs were written and/or finished in the studio. Austin singer/songwriter Drew Smith produced Gold Boots Glitter, and was a huge help by making the album become a single unit rather than a bunch of random thoughts shoved together. They highly recommend you check out Drew at a show! To stir up a little buzz about Gold Boots Glitter during SXSW, the guys picked up a pair of mismatched boots for a really good deal, painted them, glittered them and attached them together by a rope. The boots were left hanging on high lines in Austin and people were encouraged to find them and post pictures of them on Twitter. This worked pretty well, I saw quite a few of the responses.
Gold Boots Glitter's official release (buy now on iTunes) is today (April 2nd) and they are spending release day visiting Ray Wylie Hubbard as part of his weekly live radio show Roots and Branches of Americana on 92.1 KNBT FM New Braunfels (knbt.fm). Uncle Lucius is also a guest on the show with Wheelers and both bands are part of the Grit 'N' Groove bill for Saturday, April 6 at Whitewater Amphitheater in New Braunfels.

Artist Spotlight: The Trishas
The Trishas will perform at Ray Wylie Hubbard's Grit 'n Groove Festival on April 6, 2013 at Whitewater Amphitheater in New Braunfels, TX. Click here for more details.
During the January 2009 Dickson Productions "The Music Fest" at Steamboat Springs, Colorado, 4 singers came together to sing as part of a living tribute to songwriter Kevin Welch. They sang "Satan's Paradise" and "Too Old to Die Young" that were both penned by Welch. Those of us not present at this event can only imagine the reaction the crowd must have had to this group of ladies harmonizing together like they had been singing as a group their entire lives.
Jamie Wilson grew up in Sealy, TX with no substantial musical background or training. She decided she needed to learn guitar after seeing Natalie Maines play guitar during a Dixie Chicks show around late 1999 or early 2000. After a few months of practicing heavily she began to dabble in songwriting and joined a band The Sidehill Gougers. Within a year of LOTS of practice and playing gigs The Gougers released their first album. They continued touring, writing and released an EP and another full length album before splitting in 2009 shortly after the infamous performance by the 4 girls at The Music Fest. During the time since The Trishas was formed Wilson released her own solo album "Dirty Blonde Hair" in 2010 and shortly after that her and her husband Roy had the first baby for the band.
Kelley Mickwee came from Memphis, TN. She took dance and vocal lessons at an early age and joined a band Drasco in her early 20s. She was interested in learning the banjo, but after taking some advice to learn the mandolin from Lloyd Maines she gladly headed down that road. She played as a duo with Jed Zimmerman as Jed and Kelley for a few years. They recorded and released 2 full length albums of mostly original songs by Zimmerman. Kelley and her husband Tim now live in Austin along with their beloved dog Josey.
Savannah Welch is the daughter of Kevin and one of two children that have found themselves enjoying careers in music having been raised in a musical family. Savannah however didn't take exactly the same road as her brother Dustin. She moved to Austin from her childhood home in Nashville at the age of 18 to attend film school at the University of Texas. After her first year she abandoned film school and began acting in both Austin and Los Angeles. She has had numerous roles in short and feature length films even throughout the time since the Trishas formed in 2009. However, after jumping up on stage and singing with brother Dustin during gigs at his Momo's Monday night residency and even performing some of her own songs she wrote, she began to focus more on music as well. Savannah and her husband Roy live in the Austin area and added the latest baby to The Trishas in 2012.
Liz Foster was born in Seagoville, TX and moved quite a bit as a child. She was raised in a musical family, although none of them pursued a career in music. At the age of 15 Liz was a touring musician on the Texas Opry Circuit and later toured for a few years as a member of a motown revue while beginning to write songs. Liz later teamed up with Lincoln Durham as the duo Liz and Lincoln. They toured and sang together as a husband and wife team for part of 2008 and 2009 and even planned on performing together at The Music Fest in 2009 together.
Through varied circumstances and meshing plans for the girls to sing at the Kevin Welch tribute; the girls got together at the Wimberley home of Kevin Welch in late 2008 to practice. Judy Hubbard was present to witness history in the making, and offered on the spot to manage this new band. The girls practiced the 2 songs they performed at The Music Fest as well as Welch's "That's What I Like About You" that had been recorded by Trisha Yearwood. The song ended up getting cut for the tribute, but the girls had jokingly called each other "Trisha" numerous times during rehearsal and in a pinch for a band name they ended up choosing The Trishas as an easy out.
Very soon after performing at The Music Fest, the girls were recruited to work the merchandise table at the inaugural "Grit 'n' Groove" Festival in April of 2009 in Luckenbach. Although not on the official bill for the show, they joined Ray Wylie Hubbard on stage and sang "Papa Was A Rolling Stone" with him, then performed "Satan's Paradise" as well. Since then they have been the only act to be a part of every Grit 'n' Groove Fest.
The girls have co-written and collaborated with numerous Austin area musicians such as Jason Eady. I've personally seen Jamie do Gruene Hall front-room song swaps with Jason, and Kelly and Jamie joined Cody Braun as additonal members of Jason's Band at the 2012 KNBT Americana Music Jam. Courtney Patton holds the high honor of being the only songwriter other than Trishas members to have a song included on the 2012 album "High Wide and Handsome". Jamie has provided background vocals on at least 2 of Chris King's songs "Parade" from his 2010 EP Bexar County, and "Man Enough" on his January 2013 full length album 1983. Mike Ethan Messick had vocal support from Jamie on "Fools of Us All" and The Trishas and Mark Jungers on "Must Be Time" both from his 2011 album The Only Easy Day Was Yesterday. The girls also released a short documusical called "Live Girls" on their YouTube channel in December 2011; and the soundtrack was a recording of The Trishas doing Ethan's "Must Be Time". I made a personal request to the band to perform this song at the 4th Grit 'n' Groove Fest. Join us on April 6th at Whitewater Amphitheater in New Braunfels and see if it makes the set list!

Kelley Mickwee came from Memphis, TN. She took dance and vocal lessons at an early age and joined a band Drasco in her early 20s. She was interested in learning the banjo, but after taking some advice to learn the mandolin from Lloyd Maines she gladly headed down that road. She played as a duo with Jed Zimmerman as Jed and Kelley for a few years. They recorded and released 2 full length albums of mostly original songs by Zimmerman. Kelley and her husband Tim now live in Austin along with their beloved dog Josey.
Savannah Welch is the daughter of Kevin and one of two children that have found themselves enjoying careers in music having been raised in a musical family. Savannah however didn't take exactly the same road as her brother Dustin. She moved to Austin from her childhood home in Nashville at the age of 18 to attend film school at the University of Texas. After her first year she abandoned film school and began acting in both Austin and Los Angeles. She has had numerous roles in short and feature length films even throughout the time since the Trishas formed in 2009. However, after jumping up on stage and singing with brother Dustin during gigs at his Momo's Monday night residency and even performing some of her own songs she wrote, she began to focus more on music as well. Savannah and her husband Roy live in the Austin area and added the latest baby to The Trishas in 2012.
Liz Foster was born in Seagoville, TX and moved quite a bit as a child. She was raised in a musical family, although none of them pursued a career in music. At the age of 15 Liz was a touring musician on the Texas Opry Circuit and later toured for a few years as a member of a motown revue while beginning to write songs. Liz later teamed up with Lincoln Durham as the duo Liz and Lincoln. They toured and sang together as a husband and wife team for part of 2008 and 2009 and even planned on performing together at The Music Fest in 2009 together.
Through varied circumstances and meshing plans for the girls to sing at the Kevin Welch tribute; the girls got together at the Wimberley home of Kevin Welch in late 2008 to practice. Judy Hubbard was present to witness history in the making, and offered on the spot to manage this new band. The girls practiced the 2 songs they performed at The Music Fest as well as Welch's "That's What I Like About You" that had been recorded by Trisha Yearwood. The song ended up getting cut for the tribute, but the girls had jokingly called each other "Trisha" numerous times during rehearsal and in a pinch for a band name they ended up choosing The Trishas as an easy out.
Very soon after performing at The Music Fest, the girls were recruited to work the merchandise table at the inaugural "Grit 'n' Groove" Festival in April of 2009 in Luckenbach. Although not on the official bill for the show, they joined Ray Wylie Hubbard on stage and sang "Papa Was A Rolling Stone" with him, then performed "Satan's Paradise" as well. Since then they have been the only act to be a part of every Grit 'n' Groove Fest.
The girls have co-written and collaborated with numerous Austin area musicians such as Jason Eady. I've personally seen Jamie do Gruene Hall front-room song swaps with Jason, and Kelly and Jamie joined Cody Braun as additonal members of Jason's Band at the 2012 KNBT Americana Music Jam. Courtney Patton holds the high honor of being the only songwriter other than Trishas members to have a song included on the 2012 album "High Wide and Handsome". Jamie has provided background vocals on at least 2 of Chris King's songs "Parade" from his 2010 EP Bexar County, and "Man Enough" on his January 2013 full length album 1983. Mike Ethan Messick had vocal support from Jamie on "Fools of Us All" and The Trishas and Mark Jungers on "Must Be Time" both from his 2011 album The Only Easy Day Was Yesterday. The girls also released a short documusical called "Live Girls" on their YouTube channel in December 2011; and the soundtrack was a recording of The Trishas doing Ethan's "Must Be Time". I made a personal request to the band to perform this song at the 4th Grit 'n' Groove Fest. Join us on April 6th at Whitewater Amphitheater in New Braunfels and see if it makes the set list!

Artist Spotlight: Ray Wylie Hubbard
Ray Wylie Hubbard is the mastermind behind Grit 'n Groove Festival. This one-of-a-kind festival will be held on April 6, 2013 at Whitewater Amphitheater in New Braunfels, TX. Click here for more details.
Ray was born in Oklahoma and lived there until his family moved to Texas when he was 8 years old. He spent the rest of his boyhood years in the Oak Cliff community on the south side of Dallas. After high school graduation in 1965, he began traveling to Red River New Mexico spending his summers honing his singing and songwriting skills. He attended North Texas State University (now UNT) as an English major, and it was during this time that he allegedly spent time at Mother Blues in Dallas, met a stripper and bought a Les Paul gold top from "Jack Jones" for $500 which he apparently raised by selling his father's car on Ross Avenue; allegedly. He also met other fellow songwriters such as B.W. Stevenson, Bob Livingston and Jerry Jeff Walker during the late 60's and early 70's. In 1973 Walker cut Ray's "Up Against The Wall, Red Neck" on his live Viva Terlingua album after pressuring him to complete the song which he did on the spot during a phone call. It was this particular live album recording when Ray was first referred to as Ray "Wylie" Hubbard by Bob Livingston.
A short while later Ray formed a band and cut an album "Ray Wylie Hubbard & The Cowboy Twinkies" which could have been a huge victory and big deal for the young musician, but after becoming the victim of over production by Nashville folk; it's not something he looks back on now with a great deal of pride. Before the close of the 70's after The Cowboy Twinkies disbanded; he began touring with the Lost Gonzo Band and recorded "Off The Wall" on Willie Nelson's Lonestar label. This finally released Ray's hit song "Redneck Mother" as well as a live cut with the Lost Gonzos in full effect, but he didn't enjoy quite the success with it as Walker had at the time. Even so, to this day Redneck Mother has become one of the top requested tunes at live shows and has shared the endearing title of "albatross" with his later hit "Snake Farm". Hubbard's time with the Lost Gonzo Band helped secure their reputation as a band that both Hubbard and Walker stole from each other.
The early 1980s brought two live albums that feel a bit transitional, yet still give you a good feel for where Ray had been and where he was going. "Something About The Night" came out in 1980 and "Caught in the Act" in 1984. Neither scored Ray big praise or awards, but after these 2 albums Ray went into a period of touring, growing his fanbase and finally recovering from a multi-decade alcohol and substance abuse problem. Now I've seen his recovery attributed to some encouraging words from Stevie Ray Vaughn, but I suspect a big part of his continued sobriety was due to his marriage to "Mother Blues door girl" Judy in February of 1989.
Ray's first real record deal came in 1991 with the album "Lost Train of Thought" on which several of Rays big standards and some other great songs originally surfaced including a duet "These Eyes" with Willie Nelson and "Wanna Rock and Roll" that would begin to make regular appearances on Cross Canadian Ragweed set lists in the 90s and appeared on the "Back to Tulsa: Live and Loud At Cain's Balroom" album. Over the next few years Ray released album after album of music that exemplified the masterful songwriter, storyteller and artist he had become. Ray Wylie Hubbard had finally come into his own and earned a well deserved reputation as one of Texas' top songwriters.
In the late 90's Ray and family put down roots in Wimberley, TX and after establishing some local relationships in particular one with station owner/operator Mattson Rainer of 92.1 KNBT FM (New Braunfels Communications) in New Braunfels; they started a weekly radio program called "Roots and Branches of Americana with Ray Wylie Hubbard". Ray interviews songwriters or sometimes full bands and they perform their material live as well as promote new albums and/or touring schedules.
Back to Ray's musical resume, he has continued to release gem after gem including his all-time favorite (just kidding) "Snake Farm" which contains a song by the same title that has become highly requested although it was a bit of a novelty, and I've heard (as I mentioned earlier) it referred to as an albatross that just keeps hanging on for dear life. I happen to like "Snake Farm" and rather enjoy hearing about Ramona's keen sense of humor and the tattoos down her arm. Ray has told a story of a couple that called him from a tattoo parlor wanting to know if the mouse or the python was wearing the sailor hat because they were trying to immortalize the moment of musical history in ink.
Aside from a Vietnam Vets Fundraiser about 20 years ago, the 2009 Grit 'n Groove Fest in Luckenbach was the first music festival that Ray's name has been associated with as headliner and conceptus generalus. It was finally time to pull together a group of musicians that Ray enjoyed listening to. Not only did he have present the likes of Carrie Rodriguez, Hayes Carll, Band of Heathens and several others; he also had the "not yet 100% established" The Trishas there selling merchandise and helping with the festival. This was only 3 months after the girls made their first appearance together as a group at The Music Fest in Steamboat Springs, CO in January of 2009 during a living tribute to Savannah Welch's father, songwriter Kevin Welch. Ray has continued this amazing "one-of-a-kind" festival each year since then with exception of 2012 which he took off to promote the release of his latest amazing album "The Grifter's Hymnal". Grit 'n Groove moved to Whitewater Amphitheater in New Braunfels, TX in 2011 and thankfully for us locals in this area he decided to continue in New Braunfels this year.

Artist Spotlight: Uncle Lucius
Uncle Lucius will perform at Ray Wylie Hubbard's Grit 'n Groove Festival on April 6, 2013 at Whitewater Amphitheater in New Braunfels, TX. Click here for more details.
I first ran across Uncle Lucius in a live setting last May at the 16th Annual KNBT Americana Music Jam. I met the band in person, but never heard anybody say the name of the band. I finally put the pieces together and realized they were Uncle Lucius. After a quick search and a couple of plays of YouTube videos I realized I recognized their music but had never seen them live. When it finally came time for Uncle Lucius to take the main stage at Gruene Hall it became very obvious why they were on the bill for the Americana Music Jam.
Kevin Galloway came to Austin in 2002 and started paying his dues playing acoustic gigs at open mic nights around town. After several years he and bassist and singer Hal Vorpahl met and started playing together, and they eventually added Mike Carpenter on lead guitar and Jason Armstrong on drums. This 4 piece recorded the band's first album "Something They Ain't" in 2006 and did heavy rotation at local venues as well as beginning to tour as much as they could. As the band began to prepare to record a second album they lost drummer Armstrong who moved on to pursue other interests. They picked up Josh Greco prior to recording "Pick Your Head Up" and he was a perfect fit.
The band continued on with this configuration and cut a live album at the Saxon Pub in 2009. Jon Grossman joined in 2010/2011 and rounded out the band's sound with more vocal support, keys and accordion. They went out on the road and broke in Grossman while preparing for a long-awaited 3rd studio album. In August of 2012 "And You Are Me" was released and the band has been touring aggressively ever since. They have opened and co-billed with some impressive acts such as Shooter Jennings, The Departed and even Ray Wylie Hubbard himself! And of course who can forget the Dirty Uncle Wheeler tour with The Dirty River Boys and The Wheeler Brothers. They really enjoyed the Dirty Uncle Wheeler tour and hopefully there will be more dates soon, maybe we'll get a gander at that combo at Grit 'n Groove!
After a few local dates including SXSW then a stop at the Randy Rogers leg of the Rio Frio Fest in Concan, TX; the boys will begin a tour through Oklahoma, Colorado, Utah, New Mexico then back into Texas in time for Ray Wylie Hubbard's Grit 'n Groove Festival. Although they haven't toured abroad so far, they are currently looking at options that can get them in the air for a little international exposure.
