Todd Snider's influence on Cody Canada
He started catching Snider’s shows at Cheatham Street in San Marcos, Texas and marveled at small things about Snider’s on stage presence, like how cool it was that he played with no shoes on. To Canada, it was yet another way Snider’s style signaled freedom. "He blew my doors off, and the imperfections of his show were the best part. He was so free, I sometimes thought he and his band probably never practiced cause they were so ‘garage’." Back in those early days, Canada and then roommate/friend Jason Boland were starting to make their own way in Stillwater, Oklahoma, and always waved the Snider flag every chance they got. "We became so addicted to Todd’s songs that we had the whole Stillwater strip equally addicted to his music through the covers we did of his." So, after a few years, it was a surreal moment for Canada when he got to join Snider on stage for the first time. "We became friends at Cheatham Street. He asked me on stage one night to play a few songs, and he introduced me to the crowd. Todd was just as important to me as Mike McClure, and that was the first time I felt accepted by one of my heroes."
Over the proceeding years Canada’s friendship with Snider deepened as they shared stages, stories, laughs and advice. "The first time I truly felt like we (Cross Canadian Ragweed) could be ourselves in Nashville was when he came to see us at the Exit/In. He came in through the back door and was kind of mystified watching us do our ritual prayer circle before the show. He actually mentioned that one time on a record he did, he found humor in everything. He came on stage that night and sang ‘Late Last Night’ with us and I felt like king of the world. On another show at Larry Joe Taylor’s event in Stephenville, Texas, he said he would come out with us and do a song, but he wanted it to be the first song. I said that that was fine, just please don’t throw my harmonica out into the crowd. So, during the song he went to the front of the stage, looked me right in the eye, and tossed my harmonica out into the crowd. It was an awesome rock and roll moment."
It wasn’t always laughs and pranks, and Canada was grateful to find Snider there in times when he truly needed encouragement. "The biggest compliment I got from him a few years ago was when I put out a song called ‘Shut Up And Sing,’ and Todd agreed to be on the track. It was a song I wrote in anger about feeling like a trained animal expected to just perform. When I sent him the recording he said, ‘If you aren’t pissing people off, you’re not doing your job, brother.’ That was exactly what I needed to hear." Snider’s wisdom would continue to grow roots in Canada’s life including a conversation the two shared on the one subject that remained an open wound for years. "A few years ago, Ragweed was heavily on my mind, and I knew I needed to do some soul searching about how it all ended, and if we could ever do it again. Went to see Todd at Cheatham Street one night, unannounced, and admitted I needed some of his inspiration. He said, ‘you deserve a victory lap, and your kids deserve to see you do it.’ He always gave me advice when I needed it. The last communication I had with him was back in April after the Ragweed reunion shows. He sent me an email that said, ‘those boys have to be super proud of their dad.’"
Canada continues in his reflections about a man who meant so much to him. "Since discovering him in 1994 to 30 years later, he still amazes me with his music. Haggard, Tom Skinner…those losses were so hard for me, but this one…" Canada trails off choking back the tears that are overtaking him. "He was such an important part of the beginnings of my journey. Todd was a person who molded me. He gave me confidence before I even knew him and I felt overwhelming joy to know he was on the planet at the same time, and that I got to be friends with him. I have struggled for a lot of years not wanting to disappoint anyone with my songwriting. I can admit that now. This happening has reignited the songwriter in me. This tremendous sadness that he is gone is a wake-up call for me to get off my ass and not be afraid to write. I hope that he knew how many people took pages from his book. He made us all feel like we could do it."
The Boys from Oklahoma Expand 2026 Schedule
About Cross Canadian Ragweed:
After a whirlwind year of sold-out stadium shows in Stillwater, Oklahoma and Waco, Texas, a few select special appearances, and stepping in for Tim McGraw to headline opening night at the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Last Cowboy Standing event in Colorado, the powerful clamor from fans to see Cross Canadian Ragweed back on stage after 15 years remains undiminished. From Dierks Bentley’s song “Free And Easy” in 2006 where he sings "Ragweed's rockin' on the radio" to Koe Wetzel’s 2019 song "Ragweed" where he sings about missing the band to the 2021 album The Years: A MusicFest Tribute to Cody Canada and the music of Cross Canadian Ragweed to references to the band’s music in two different Stephen King novels, the deep impact of the band’s music and influence has never been allowed to fade, rather it has been memorialized and preserved for the existing populous of fans and the coming generations who will no doubt one day discover the band that “smells like country, tastes like rock n’ roll.”
About Turnpike Troubadours:
Pioneers of the Red Dirt music scene and one of America’s most beloved bands, Turnpike Troubadours has amassed a massive following throughout their renowned career with more than 2.2 billion streams globally and over 1.7 million equivalent units sold. Since their debut in 2005, the band has released seven studio albums, performed countless sold-out headline shows, appeared in Paramount’s hit show Yellowstone and were inducted into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame. Most recently, Turnpike Troubadours added to their historic career with the release of their new surprise album, The Price of Admission, which debuted at #1 on the iTunes all-genre and country charts and earned them their highest Spotify chart debuts to date. The eagerly awaited follow up to their widely acclaimed 2023 album, A Cat in the Rain, The Price of Admission further cements the band as an undeniable force in the music world and led Rolling Stone to praise, "The Price of Admission serves as a reminder that Turnpike is still the genre’s torchbearer…The band is at its lyrical and musical peak across the board," while Whiskey Riff declared “Turnpike Troubadours have continued to prove time and time again that they are the greatest band of all time.” Originally from Tahlequah, OK, Turnpike Troubadours is Evan Felker (vocals, guitar), Kyle Nix (fiddle), Ryan Engleman (electric guitar), RC Edwards (bass), Gabe Pearson (drums) and Hank Early (steel, accordion). turnpiketroubadours.com

A co-headlined bill between Ragweed and Turnpike Troubadours, also featuring Red Dirt icons The Great Divide, Jason Boland and The Stragglers and Stoney LaRue, manifested a monumental “lovefest” that was felt by every single person there. An additional 100,000 plus fans were left without a chance to get tickets for the initial Stillwater shows as well as the bands’ subsequent run in Waco, TX, but will now get another crack at it. Sign up to get your pre-sale password at theboysfromoklahoma.com beginning on August 28th at 10 AM CST and ending on September 3rd at 5 PM CST.
The overall sentiment shared by each member of the band about walking out on stage together for the first time after so many years is the same. It’s like when you haven’t talked to your close friend in years, and then when you do, it’s like no time has passed and you pick right back up where you left off. Randy Ragsdale (drums) described it as, “Like wearing an old pair of shoes. It felt very natural again. It was a big stage, but we stayed close like we always did.” Jeremy Plato (bass) echoed the feeling, “It brought back that old time feelin,’ getting back to the fun part of what we did. It felt like we never stopped.” Nobody in the band ever imagined the response to their reunion would be as massive as it turned out to be. Cody Canada is still reeling from it, “I had no idea we could do this. I thought it was going to be one show, then the love started pouring in. After the first one sold out, I left the house, and when I came back to find out there was going to be three more shows…I’m still in shock. When we walked out on that stage for the first time, it was pure rock and roll adrenaline.” Grady Cross (rhythm guitar) had a similar reaction. “It was hard to imagine that we could do that; sell out a stadium. I knew we made a mark as a band, and owning a pub I have heard a lot from other artists, but when I heard we sold out 4 shows, I had to go for a drive to process it. We felt so much love from everyone, a vibe that was in the air the whole way through.” Plato was equally stunned. “I didn’t know we had that kind of impact on that scale.” That kind of “impact” is a situation that can put a town on alert, and also inspire local legislation. With Stillwater having a population of 50,000, the 200,000 pouring into town for the concert can make a wide-open space seem rather crowded. Yet not a single fight broke out at any of the shows. After it was over, Canada spoke to police who told him how great their fans were. “It was a true reunion; everyone was so happy.” Plato agrees wholeheartedly, “There was no time for fighting, people were too busy having fun. It was the most Oklahoma concert ever for the Red Dirtiest time.”
The Boys From Oklahoma Round 2 event will fall smack dab in the middle of Red Dirt Music Week (April 7-13), a newly instated celebration decreed by Stillwater Mayor William H. Joyce immediately following the landslide of tickets sales for the original shows. The reunion type atmosphere both inside the stadium and along the streets of Stillwater represents the very definition of the Red Dirt music culture, and the artists that create its soundtrack. It’s about sharing; sharing the love, sharing the music, and sharing the stage, so it comes as no surprise that Ragweed’s set features many of their friends throughout their performance. “For a lot of our friends to be there with us…means the world.” Canada explains. “We have always shared the stage, and we always will.” As the guys gear up for the return to what is sure to be the sequel to another epic event, the love and reverence continues to mount. “For me, this is a way to honor my son first off.” explains Ragsdale. “He wanted the band to be together and didn’t understand why we weren’t. He watched us on the iPad all the time. His passing right before the first show…it was an honor to him. Second, it was a dream come true for me. I didn’t think this would happen again. I am completely honored to be able to do it again.” Cross is also very humbled. “I’m more than grateful. I’m happy for all our families, happy for our band. I’m still on a high from the last one. I may never come down.” Canada feels a large debt of gratitude to the town itself. “I grew up in Yukon, but if it weren’t for Stillwater, I wouldn’t have anything. Not my wife, my kids, or my career. For the shows to be there, to be that size, that easy…that shows me that Stillwater and Ragweed was really meant for each other.”

Lost Charley Pride project coming SOON!
His smooth, warm baritone vocals immediately endeared him to country music fans worldwide and remains one of the most recognized voices today. In 2017 that familiar voice was rediscovered when a couple of forgotten reels were found buried deep in a storage room in Pride’s production office in Dallas, Texas. After his death, it was confirmed that the multi-track reels contained the long-lost Brook Benton tribute recordings Pride recorded in the 80’s but never released. In 2021 the tapes were carefully transferred to multi-track digital audio files, and Endlessly: a Tribute to Brook Benton will now be released on September 19th on Music City Records. This marks the 94th anniversary of Brook Benton’s birth. The album’s first single “Thank You Pretty Baby” will be released on Friday, August 29th on all digital music platforms. charleypride.com
Brimming with vintage country, rhythm & blues (R & B) and pop music sounds, this retro-sonic homage to legendary singer/songwriter Brook Benton clearly demonstrates that Pride’s versatility as an artist extended well beyond the confines of country music. Originally recorded in Pride’s adopted home of Dallas, Texas during a brief mid-1980s interlude between his RCA Records and 16th Avenue Records recording contracts, this previously unreleased album displays Pride flexing newfound artistic freedom on productions that sound notably different than his 1970s/1980s country music output. Produced and engineered by Bob Pickering, chief engineer at Pride’s home studio CECCA Sound, Endlessly features a genuine string section, and an impressive array of world-class musicians who proudly called North Texas home during the mid-1980s, including legendary bassist Chuck Rainey (Steely Dan, Aretha Franklin, Quincy Jones), drummer/percussionist Gene Glover (Ricardo Arjona), jazz pianist Fred Crane (Al Belletto, Johnnie Mercer, Al Hirt, Doc Severinsen), guitarist Jerry Matheny (LeAnn Rimes) and Texas Western Swing Hall of Fame inductee Billy Briggs Jr. (Bob Wills) on sax. The rest of the session players backing Pride were all handpicked, seasoned North Texas studio professionals with breathtaking resumes.
The songs that Pride chose to record for this tribute album were mostly derived from Brook’s initial 1959 to 1961 flurry of hits. “It’s Just a Matter of Time,” “Endlessly,” “Thank You Pretty Baby,” “So Close,” “So Many Ways” and “Kiddio” were all Top 5 R & B smashes that also crossed over to become significant Top 40 pop chart hits. More than just an outstanding homage to Brook Benton, this lavish, timeless sounding album is a potent testament to both Pride’s versatility as a music artist and the exceptional abilities of the world-class North Texas studio talents that backed him. Perhaps in time this long-lost treasure will earn the respect and acclaim necessary to elevate it into the upper echelon of Pride’s already extraordinary body of work.

Cross Canadian Ragweed at Colorado State in July
The iconic group, widely regarded as one of the most influential bands in Red Dirt Music, will take the stage in place of country superstar Tim McGraw who has been forced to cancel his Fort Collins performance due to a recent back surgery. After a 15-year hiatus, Cross Canadian Ragweed played their first concerts in April at Boone Pickens Stadium in Stillwater, Oklahoma, welcoming more than 185,000 fans at 4 sold-out shows. Known for their renown live performances, the band will open the two-day event at CSU pairing PBR with full blockbuster concerts. PBR and Cross Canadian Ragweed first crossed paths in 2005 when the band played at the official PBR After Party in Bentonville, Arkansas, following a PBR premier series event in nearby Springdale. PBR and Cross Canadian Ragweed partnered up at several other PBR events after that.
“Twenty years ago, Cross Canadian Ragweed brought the house down with an unforgettable after-party, and we immediately recognized the power of this up-and-coming band,” said Sean Gleason, CEO and Commissioner of PBR. “We couldn’t be more pumped that the band is back together and have agreed to open the Last Cowboy Standing event in Fort Collins. It’s going to be an epic night of great music and the greatest bull riding on earth.”
The Western Sports Festival begins on July 21 at 7:30 p.m. MT with Round 1 of PBR’s Last Cowboy Standing. In this intense, ride-to-survive showdown, 35 of the world’s top bull riders will battle through a challenging two-night competition for their shot at a $100,000 first-place prize from the $200,000 total purse. The action continues July 22 at 7:30 p.m. MT with the dramatic conclusion of the grueling event, where only the toughest and most committed will remain in the hunt for the title. Each night wraps up with full 90-minute concerts: Cross Canadian Ragweed takes the stage after Round 1, while Jon Pardi brings the festival to a celebratory close following the championship round.

DS: Bob Schneider at Gruene Hall April 2011
The video below is a live performance of the song '40 Dogs' from a Bob Schneider show at Gruene Hall on April 1, 2011. This was during a time when Bob had already played a Monday Residency at Saxon Pub in Austin for 8 years. This redidency has continued to this day which means he is in his 22nd year of performing weekly at Saxon Pub as Lonelyland.
'40 Dogs' as well as some other Bob Schneider songs were featured on the soundtrack for the 2023 movie 'Happiness for Beginners' starring Ellie Kemper and Luke Grimes. I'm honestly surprised it hasn't been licensed several times.
Schneider has the honor of having won the highest number of Austin Music Awards for various categories, having won 58 to date based on Austin Chronicle’s archives. Eric Johnson is second place for musicians with 33 AMA’s.

Ryan Bingham at Whitewater Amphitheater
Below are some photos and video from Ryan Bingham back on May 30th at Whitewater Amphitheater.
Ryan Bingham has performed at Whitewater quite a few times over the years since 2013, we also saw him back in 2016 with Willie Nelson. This show happened 9 days after Merle Haggard died, he was supposed to perform at this show as well.
Here's a show from March of 2014 with Merle Haggard plus Wade Bowen and Randy Roger's infamous "Hold My Beer" tour. This was back when publicist rules were looser and I was in the pit more often, iPhone photo sensors were garbage (comparitively) and I didn't know how to keep a video down to a reasonable length. :-)
DS: Indian Head Ranch Trail Ride 2012
In 2012 I was fortunate enough to be asked along on a beatiful weekend at Indian Head Ranch in northern New Mexico (IYKYK). There was good friends, good music, good horses and good food. And a good amount of whiskey. I'm going to keep this first installment brief, because the video is long, but it's worth the watch...
Please keep an eye out for more content from more signposts from the past.

| Cody Canada & The Departed 2011 at Gruene Hall |
First of all, my sister always had interesting music around, and she taught me when I was about 8 that I can listen to music at night when I sleep if I keep the volume low enough that it didn't rouse attention from outside my bedroom, so most of my childhood from that point on included some FM radio playing through my sleep cycles. Of course being in the 70's and 80's I would at times wake up in a panic wondering WHAT THE HECK that noise was, only to find out is was some weird, psychadelic keyboard or guitar riff or something. My sister also introduced me to a few 8 tracks. El Loco by ZZ Top and the Xanadu soundtrack among others.
My dad had quite a few records and a few 8 tracks and even some music on reel to reel laying around, so I would listen to his music, including Herb Alpert, Roger Whitaker, Arlo Guthrie and more.
By the time my grandfather retired, his obsession with music such as Haggard, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, David Allan Coe (among others) had gone into full force, and he would record certain times of day from the radio onto casette tape so he could go back and listen to songs he loved. I would also frequently watch shows like Nashville Now, Crooke and Chase and The Grand Ole Opry on TV with my grandparents. Oh, and Heehaw which I sort of didn't count as a music show at the time, but looking back, DANG it had some great music on it.
In roughly 2009, I began to listen to KNBT, our amazing, local Americana radio station more often, and my love and appreciation for Americana, Texas Country and Red Dirt music got added to my already highly eclectic musical taste. I also began to develop a love and appreciation for our local music scene, espcially live music.
I would occasionally step out to venues like Billy's Ice, Freiheit, Tavern in the Gruene and others to catch people like Allan Goodman, Wes Nickson, Zack Walther, Jason Allen and others, and I also went to several Roots and Branches of Americana live broadcasts back when it was at Tavern in the Gruene. Tavern in the Gruene is now Gruene Homestead Inn which is basically a Bed and Breakfast and bookable event venue (I think) at the edge of Gruene on Gruene Road.
All of that combined made me want to start posting pictures and videos from these events to let more people know about this greats music scene, because I figured if I'd been living in a hole and didn't know about it, so there had to be others who also needed an education.
So anyway, that brings us to today, and I decided I'm going to bring you this new (old) series call Dal Segno (or DS) which in music notation tells you to go back to a symbol or "sign" earlier in the song. We're going back to random points in time and re-releasing "cleaned up" versions of old videos and photos. The first installment will be out soon!

During the evening they showed a teaser for "I Can Only Imagine 2". The original 2018 "I Can Only Imagine" was a story of Bart Millard's childhood and how it shaped his songwriting, his career as a musician, along with the formation of the band MercyMe. The sequel is the story of how Bart's adult life as a husband and parent shaped the co-writing of the song "Even If". This song was co-written with Tim Timmons and a host of other talented songwriters.

Willie Nelson, Robert Earl Keen and The Jakes at Whitewater Amphitheater
Robert Earl Keen concluded his career as a touring musician in September 2022, but like many who have spent most of their adult lives entertaining large crowds, it's an intoxicant that is difficult to resist. After multiple attempts at finding new hobbies, he decided to spend his retirment doing what he loves the most, entertaining large crowds and continuing to write and record music. Among his accomplishments over the past couple of years, he experienced his Grand Ol Opry debut in March, he'll play Red Rocks Amphitheater on May 9 with Turnpike Troubadours, and will return to Gruene Hall on May 17.
Willie Nelson has assembled a perfect band to accompany him while still maintinaing a relatively busy touring schedule for a 91 year old. Up front with Willie is Waylon Payne who has not only had a very successful career as a songwriter and performing musician, but also has had some success in acting including expertly portraying Jerry Lee Lewis in the 2005 film "Walk The Line". He is also joined up front by his surprisingly entertaining youngest son Micah Nelson, and with 2 guitars and 2 voices adding to Willie, the sound is thick with harmony and both hints of Willie as a younger man and sounds that are both classic and new and bring a brand of Willie to yet another generation in a way that gives them an experience of the history of music as well as fresh, new songs that resonated with the crowd. There are people of all ages on hand for this chapter of Willie, including parents introducting their kids to music that was played for them as children by their parents. It's hard to believe that the original outlaws of country music are all but gone, but for now we still have Willie Nelson, and he's still got us.

An end of an era...
So, I started going out occasionally and enjoying some of what our area had to offer, and while I was there I would take a few notes, a few pictures and some video so i could leave behind a memory of what I experienced. Thankfully a few people gave me some advice on different things I could do that would provide more benefit for people living or traveling here, and over a 6 year period I saw and heard a lot of great things and part of my memories are available in the Archive section on the right-hand side that goes from 2012 to 2018 when I decided to take a break. There's also a lot on my Facebook page, Instagram and Youtube channel, go check them out of you'd like, but I decided even though I was stepping away from this, it didn't hurt to leave those memories behind for people to enjoy if they wanted to.
Over the past 6 years I've thought several times about jumping back in and doing something with this platform again, but I wasn't sure what that would mean, so I waited.
The 2025 schedule that was coming together at Whitewater Amphitheater finally nudged me into taking some action. This year I am going to attend several shows at Whitewater, and I'll put a few words down on here along with some photos or video, starting with this past Friday night, when Willie Nelson, Robert Earl Keen, The Jakes and even a brief appearance by Zac Brown kicked off my 2025 music season. I'll have all that ready soon, along with some video from that night.
So, when I say "an end of an era...", this time I mean an end of my hiatus, but I'm not stepping back into things exactly how it was before, I created a Facebook group that people are WELCOME to post information about upcoming live music in the area, whether you're a musician or a fan, feel free to promote any sort of live music anywhere within roughly 50 miles of New Braunfels. I'll also try to share those posts to my Facebook page. When i remember to do it... :) I'll also throw some things out there as I see them.
I do love our local music scene, and it's good to be back, and in the words of Robert Earl Keen, "It feels so good feelin' good again".

Josh Ward continues streak of #1 songs!
“Can’t thank radio enough for their constant support of my music. To have come this far seems so surreal and I am a very grateful man. I am also so grateful to my fans, the very people I make this music for. If it wasn’t for them we wouldn’t have places to play or milestones like this to celebrate. –Josh Ward
Josh Ward’s fourth full length album “More Than I Deserve” was released on May 4th and has amassed just shy of 300,000 streams in the first few weeks of release. The album debuted at #15 on Billboard's Heatseekers Chart and debuted at #5 on the iTunes country albums chart. Critic’s praises call the album “next level,” “a solid, neo-traditional sound,” “powerful with spirituality-infused imagery” and ”a true country album from start to finish.” To date, Ward’s music has garnered over 2 million views on YouTube and over 3 million streams on Spotify globally. With such mass appeal and a demand for his live show, Ward’s tour schedule will expand into a lot of new territory this year.
Josh will be at Whitewater Amphitheater w/Cody Jinks on July 6th and 7th!

Everclear's 90's Nostalgia Summerland Tour
![]() |
| Everclear's Summerland Tour w/Marcy Playground and Local H |
Soon after this, enter a couple of songs from a band newly signed to Capitol Records that caught my ear, but wasn't able to wedge me out of my country funk. I remember hearing 'Heroin Girl' from their new album 'Sparkle and Fade' a couple of times on MTV and thinking to myself that the grunge movement had gone a little far because it sounded like they were glorifying the drug lifestyle, then I snapped out of it and realized I was 25 and didn't have any kids so why should this bother me? I mean I never got into that, but to each his own, right? Maybe it should have bothered me more then, but that's not what we're talking about.
It wasn't until I heard 'Santa Monica' that I really perked up and took notice of Everclear, which if I'm honest is what was in that punch at that Woodstock party. I loved this song, and was on the verge of becoming a big Everclear fan, but that stupid 90's country craze with all those weird Garth Brooks shirts and songs about thunder rolling and rodeo kept my ear for a few more years.
So fast forward to 2015, and I hear one of my favorite, local music venues is gonna have Art Alexakis from Everclear doing an acoustic show! I was pretty excited and was looking forward to it, but as generally happens when you try your hardest to let wife and children come above music, I wasn't able to make it to this show or in 2016 when he did it again! Then in 2017 he brought his Summerland tour through New Braunfels at River Road Ice House and I for one reason or another missed it. I really wanted to make it to this show, it was not only Everclear, but Fuel, American Hi-Fi and Toadies. I had been wanting to see Toadies for awhile, and it seemed like the perfect chance, but again I let it slip through my fingers.
I finally let the music fan in me win this time. I went to River Road Ice House on Friday, May 18th, and not only was I thoroughly glad I FINALLY went and saw Everclear perform, but it turns out Marcy Playground and Local H are pretty amazing bands as well! I recognized some of what I heard from both of them!
Local H has been around since 1987 and they were great! Turns out they had a bassist for a few years, but front man Scott Lucas had a pretty unique guitar setup with an extra pickup under the bottom two strings of all his guitars that was fed into a bass rig, so he is lead guitarist AND bassist all at once... It was the loudest and meanest 2-piece band I've heard so far! Thanks to Austin Gilliam for the explanation of Scott's guitar!
Marcy Playground was very solid as well. They're a 3-piece band with drums, a bassist and front man John Wozniak on lead vocals and guitar. Bassist/vocalist Dylan Keefe and John Wozniak are original band members from 1996 on, and Shlomi Lavie has been on drums with Marcy Playground since 2009.
Everclear's original members from the 90's are long gone save founder, lead vocalist, guitarist and songwriter Art Alexakis, but bassist Freddy Herrera has been with Everclear since around 2009 and guitarist Dave French has mostly toured with Everclear since 2003! Drummer Jake Margolis came on board in 2017.
If you're a HUGE Everclear fan or if you just like good post-grunge rock music, I highly recommend catching a show while their Summerland tour continues through the summer!

About the creators
Jason Boland and The Stragglers circa 1998 has become one of the most successful artists in the Red Dirt/Texas country music scene. Oklahoma born and bred, Boland has remained a true craftsman of genuine, no frills country music for nearly two decades. His new album “Hard Times Are Relative” releases May 18th and finds Jason Boland and The Stragglers once again expanding the boundaries of what country music can be while staying true to its original purpose: story telling in its purest form.

Acclaimed Oklahoma roots-rock powerhouse Turnpike Troubadours released their lastest album A Long Way From Your Heart on October 20th of 2017 and achieved the rare feat of creating an album that is immediately accessible, yet continues to reveal greater depth upon each listen. With his vivid character sketches and blue-collar narratives, Evan Felker continues to solidify his place as one of the finest songwriters to come out of the dustbowl in recent years.

Wade Bowen's Garage Mahal: Episode 9
note:
Don't miss Wade Bowen at Gruene Hall on Friday, May 25th! Mason Lively opens the show!
Mason Lively at Freiheit Country Store this Friday!
Mason Lively grew up in the small town of Inez, Texas population 2,000. Lacking big city stimulation, Mason spent his developmental years taking his lessons from songs that were born long before he was. Completely immersed in the patchwork of genres he found the blueprint for songwriting at a very young age and wrote his first one at age 15. At the age of 16 he was already in the studio cutting his first 5-song EP called "Living Large in a Little Town" co-produced by Lloyd Maines and Pat Manske. Being his first music project, Mason did little more than sell it in local parking lots and hand it out to family members, but the promise it foretold of a budding career grabbed the attention of several “players” in the scene who sat back with eagle-eyed anticipation to wait patiently for the young maverick to ripen. They didn’t have to wait long. Trey Newman at the Lee Crosby Agency was one of the eagle-eye watchers who witnessed over time the cultivation of the kid’s stage presence, and in 2017 signed Mason as a booking client. Soon thereafter Trey introduced Mason to Stewart Mann, frontman and primary songwriter for the acclaimed country blues band The Statesboro Revue who stepped in to co-manage the upstart’s career. All agreed the time was at hand to release some new music and with Mason’s kettle of reserved songs now at the boiling point, he went back to the studio to record his first full length album “Stronger Ties.”
First impressions always speak the loudest and the very first thing that stands out about this album is its diversity. Where most artists strive for a cohesive sound and overall theme, Mason decided to let his genre flags fly and the result is a buffet-style feast for the ears, and there is something here for everyone. He wrote all 10 songs, and with the help of producer Pat Manske, each one came to live comfortably in its own world of sound. The first single “Lonely Comes Back Around” by far waves the Texas alt-country flag the highest, and will no doubt secure a permanent seat at radio’s table. “Heavy Toll” runs a close second, but takes it up several notches with a menacing guitar riff and rock-styled chord progression that is hammer on nail, touching on the taboos of road life that only a working musician can truly understand. And “Early Grave” and “Ballad Of The Broken Heart” are kissing cousins bringing in the “tonk” to douse the flames that devil woman set to your heart. But stamped on the lighter side of that tainted coin is the impression of optimism, and “Worry About Nothing” is the album’s cleverly crafted talisman: country cool and soothing like the stroke of a familiar hand on a worried brow. And for those that like their music a little blues-infused, they will break into their happy dance with “Role Play,” the brightest star in this constellation. And there is so much more. “Stronger Ties” is Mason’s way of paying tribute to the music scene that he loves and is proud to be a part of. “This is me not only as a music artist, but also as a listener.”
quotes:
“Mason is hands down one of the most driven, motivated, and knowledge-hungry young artists I’ve ever met, and he reminds me a lot of myself at his age, except I had a lot less talent. His appreciation for all genres of music and his ability to weave in and out of styles both as a writer and a singer is what initially intrigued me, and honestly he’s just too damn nice. How can a 20 year old be that talented and humble? I don’t have an answer to that but it’s what led me into the world of artist management for the first time in my career. I can’t wait for the world to hear Mason’s genre bending, Texas country meets blue eyed soul Americana music.” -Stewart Mannlinks:
"Mason Lively is the real deal. Blues/Rock/Americana/Texas all mixed together into something beautiful." -Shayne Hollinger/The Ranch Radio Ft. Worth.
