(DALLAS, October 2017) - Ten-year-old singer/songwriter, Jack Barksdale wants to help fight cancer the only way he knows how, with music.
His new song and music video, titled “My Mother” will raise money for cancer initiatives in North Texas through the Cancer Support Community North Texas.
“I wrote this song about how I felt when my Mom had cancer,” said Jack. “Thankfully, she is now three
years cancer-free, but many aren’t as lucky. We’re hoping to raise money to help those families still affected by the horrible disease.”
Inspired by folk, rock and blues legends at an early age, Jack started performing original music at the age of nine and has already shared the stage with Ray Wylie Hubbard, Walt Wilkins, Wade Brown and Courtney Patton.
Since late last year, he’s played over 50 shows regionally and wowed audiences with lyrics wise beyond his years. Jack plays guitar, slide guitar, mandolin and ukulele, but identifies first and foremost a songwriter.
“I’ve always been surrounded by music and my parents have always taken my sister and me to live music venues,” said Barksdale.
The music video for “My Mother” will launch Wednesday, Oct. 25. The song will be available for download via the artist's website at jackbarksdale.com. A donation can be made when you download the song. For every $25 donated, you will receive an autographed poster from Jack.
All proceeds will go to the Cancer Support Community North Texas, whose mission is to ensure that all
people impacted by cancer are empowered by knowledge, strengthened by action and sustained by
community. For more information on the Cancer Support Community, please
